Have a project in mind?

A rough plan and a few ideas are enough to begin.

Your quote & sketch guide

A rough plan
is a good start.

You do not need a finished technical drawing to begin. Give the team a useful overview, then resolve the details together.

Kitchen island with a sink and seating area
Bring the layout and fixture details together.
Start with the layout

A few marks.
A clearer conversation.

Draw each surface from above. Add approximate lengths, units and the position of sinks and appliances. Mark any backsplash and finished edges you have in mind.

  • Label separate surfaces A, B, C and so on.
  • Use one measurement unit consistently.
  • Add a few room photographs if you have them.
  • Leave uncertain details as questions for the team.

Understand the scope

What goes into your quote?

Review these details together so the material and the installation scope are clear.

The stone & layout

The selected product or slab, each surface, the arrangement and any necessary seams.

The finished details

Edge treatment, sink and cooktop openings, faucet holes and backsplash requirements.

The installation scope

Access, existing-counter removal and the division of responsibility for plumbing and appliances.

Edges, openings & the finished fit

Choose the details
that bring it together.

A few simple choices shape the finished surface. Use these examples to describe what you like, then resolve the appropriate detail with the fabricator.

Eased

A straight face with small softened corners. A quiet detail to discuss alongside the surface thickness.

Bevelled

An angled upper corner creates a defined line along the front of the counter.

Rounded

A curved outer face. This full-bullnose example shows one rounded direction, not every available profile.

Conceptual edge cross-sections, not to scale. Examples to discuss; confirm suitability for the selected stone, thickness and application.

The sink changes the opening

Above the surface, or beneath it?

Choose the actual sink before the final opening is resolved. A photograph is useful, but the model and its dimensions matter too.

Undermount

The rim sits below the stone, leaving the countertop's finished cutout edge visible. Confirm the opening and reveal for the selected sink.

Top mount / drop-in

The rim rests on top of the stone. The opening must match the selected model; the rim is part of the finished look.

For your project discussion: Bring sink, cooktop and faucet details, including model names or specifications when you have them. Sinks, cooktops and faucets should be on site for the professional site measure.

Before you begin

A few things worth knowing.

Clear answers before the first conversation.

Plan your project
Do I need exact measurements to start?

A cabinet drawing or rough sketch with approximate measurements is a useful start for a quote. The team arranges a site measure before fabrication.

What affects the quote?

The material, layout, edge details and site access all affect the scope. Discuss fixtures, backsplash and any removal work so responsibilities are clear.

Why might my counter need a seam?

Slab dimensions, your layout and installation access can make seams necessary. Discuss their position with the fabricator before the stone is cut.

Is plumbing included?

Arrange a plumber or appliance installer after the stone is installed. Agree removal and reconnection responsibilities with the team before scheduling.
